SANDBAG PICKUP
In light of recent weather patterns, the Village of Roscoe is monitoring the Rock River’s water levels. It is anticipated that the Rock River will peak at approximately 10 feet by Saturday, April 5, 2024, before commencing a gradual decline. As of 3:00 p.m. CT, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the Rock River’s water levels have been recorded at 8.38 feet.
In response to these developments and out of an abundance of caution, the Village is making sandbags available to residents. While the risk to structures remains low at this time, we encourage those in potential flood zones to prepare accordingly. Sandbags are available for pickup at the Roscoe Public Works Department, 5402 Swanson Road.

Hydrant Flushing Beginning March 18th
The North Park Public Water District will be flushing water mains and flow testing fire hydrants in Roscoe beginning on Monday, March 18th and continuing for approximately one week. Flushing and testing will be conducted between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday.
The following descriptions delineate the affected area:
- West of Hwy 251 – Bordered on the south by Brentwood Road and on the north by McCurry Road
- East of Hwy 251 – Bordered on south by Swanson Road and on the north by Prairie Hill Road
Please visit northparkwater.org to view a map of the affected area for the District’s spring flushing and testing program.
The water may become discolored at times during flushing hours. However, the water remains safe to drink and there are no health concerns associated with flushing.
Customers are cautioned against doing laundry during flushing hours. If you experience colored water, please run your water until it clears up and refrain from doing light-colored laundry in the meantime.

The Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful Christmas Tree Program allows you to bring your live tree to one of the many convenient recycling locations from January 1-15. When bringing your tree to be recycled, please remove all decorations, bags, bows, lights and ornaments, garland, or tinsel. Waste Management will pick up your real Christmas tree for no additional charge during the month of January on your regularly scheduled trash pick-up day. Trees must be free of lights, ornaments, tinsel, and garland. The tree must be under 6 feet in length or cut into pieces under 6 feet in length.

The 53rd Annual Fall Festival takes place on September 8th, 9th & 10th. Carnival rides, exhibitor tent, food, drinks, music and more! On Sunday at 11am the parade steps off from Bridge & Main Streets and continues down Main Street to Williams Drive.

Senator Andrew Chesney continues his ‘Traveling Office Hours’ Tour with a stop in Roscoe this Thursday, August 24. Please join Senator Chesney, Village President Carol Gustafson, and others at Roscoe Village Hall at 10:00am to discuss matters important to residents of both the Village of Roscoe and Illinois’ 45th Senate District. Senator Chesney will have staff available to help residents to navigate a number of state agencies and find solutions to a variety of issues including FOID and CCL, unemployment, certification issues and more. We look forward to seeing you Thursday morning!

The Village of Roscoe and surrounding region are under a Severe Heat Advisory beginning at 12:00 pm Thursday (7/27) and continuing through 9:00 pm Friday (7/28). Free mulch is now available at Riverside Park on a first come, first served basis between the hours of 7:00am – 7:00pm

Mosquito Treatment
The Village has contracted with Clarke to apply the mosquitocide used widely throughout the area for adult mosquito control, a product that is labeled by the USEPA for use in residential and recreation areas. Treatment areas will include Roscoe, Machesney Park, and Loves Park.
Weather permitting, Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management will be spraying throughout the Village of Roscoe late tonight, Tuesday June 27th, sometime between 8:30 PM and 2:30 AM. If you have questions or wish to be on Clarke’s auto call list to be notified of spraying schedules, please calling the Clarke Mosquito Hotline 1-800-942-2555
The Village is also recommending residents take precautions to protect themselves and their families from mosquito bites. Especially important is the use of insect repellent containing DEET or Picaridin.
Clarke, based in St. Charles, Ill., has been at the forefront of the mosquito control industry since 1946, offering services, products, equipment and education that aid in the control of mosquito populations.

Memorial Day 2023
Please join us for the 2023 Memorial Day Parade, conducted by the Roscoe VFW Post 2955. The Parade will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, May 29th. Starting at the intersection of Bridge Street and Main Street, the parade route will follow Main Street to Harrison Street, proceeding down Harrison into the Roscoe Township Cemetery where the VFW will hold a Memorial Ceremony honoring Roscoe’s fallen Heroes.

Storm Debris Drop-Off UPDATE:
We have now reached the limit of what our Public Works staff will be able to handle at the storm debris drop-off location in Riverside Park. Today will be the last day to deposit branches and other vegetative debris at the site. Thank you for your cooperation. We will notify the public regarding the availability of free mulch once everything has been properly chipped.
Storm Debris Drop-Off
The Village of Roscoe once again announces that it is opening a drop-off location in Riverside Park for residents to drop off tree branches and other vegetative storm debris. Starting Monday, April 3, 2023, at NOON, the drop-off site will be open from 7 am – 7 pm until further notice.
The drop-off location referenced on the attached map is located at the north end of the parking lot and is delineated on-site with barricades and signage. Residents will have to unload their own trucks/trailers.
Only vegetation like trees, tree limbs, and brush may be dropped off. Anyone dumping non-vegetation items will be ticketed for illegal dumping.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste collection resumes this week and just in time. Please observe the following guidelines for placing storm debris on the street for collection by Waste Management. Place yard waste in Kraft Paper bags or in reusable containers clearly marked ‘Yard Waste.’ Cut brush and branches into lengths of 4’-0” or less and bundle with bio-degradable string or twine. Bundles to weigh no more than 50 lbs. Branches placed out for Yard Waste collection may be no larger than 3” in diameter.
For material too large to include as part of the Yard Waste collection, residents may place branches, brush, and other storm-related vegetative debris at the edge of the road for collection by the Village of Roscoe Public Works Department. Branches can be no larger than 6” in diameter, and please be careful not to place debris on the actual roadway. We thank you in advance for your patience, as these clean-up efforts will likely take several weeks to complete.
Additionally, the Village has once again established a drop-off area in Riverside Park where residents might deposit vegetative storm debris.
Ice Storm Warning
Here we go again. National Weather Service is issuing a Winter Weather Advisory to be in effect from 6:00 AM Wednesday through 6:00 AM Thursday. The forecast is for freezing rain with expected ice accumulation of up to 1/2″. Public Works will be out salting at 5:00 AM in advance of the rains and will be applying additional salt throughout the duration of the event. PLEASE exercise caution while driving as conditions will be slippery, and we should expect tree damage with branches down from the weight of the ice.
Winter Storm Warning
A Winter Storm Warning has been declared for the Roscoe area beginning at 3:00 AM tomorrow, February 16th, remaining in effect through 9:00 PM. Snow totals are expected to reach 4 to 7 inches with wind gusts up to 40 mph. Public Works snow plows will be out clearing Village streets throughout the duration of the event. Vehicles must be removed from all roadways to allow for safe snow removal. Please exercise care while traveling, watch for slow-moving vehicles, and maintain a safe distance of at least 100′ behind all plow trucks.
Recycling Cart Exchange
Beginning Tuesday, February 7, 2023, the Village of Roscoe will be switching to an every-other-week collection of recyclable materials. New 96-gallon recycling carts will be dropped off during the last week of January, starting Monday, January 30th. These carts will be identifiable by their yellow lids. During this same week, we ask that you leave the older 35-gallon carts out at the road edge once the materials have been collected. Separate trucks will be dispatched to collect the old recycling carts. Please note that the delivery of the new cart and collection of the old cart may not happen on the same day, but weather permitting, all operations are expected to be completed between the dates of 1/30/23 and 2/3/23.

Roscoe Village Hall and the Secretary of State Express Driver’s License facility will both be closed Friday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans Day.

Truck or Treat
This family-friendly Halloween event with a truck theme will take place at Porter Park. There will be touch a truck with public works, local police, and fire departments as well as food trucks to fill everyone’s bellies. We will also have kids games, activities, and yard games. The evening will end with a glowing pumpkin walk along the path. Local Roscoe businesses are invited to submit a decorated pumpkin to be displayed at this event.

Fall Festival September 9, 10, & 11.
One of the longest running events in the Stateline area takes place this weekend! The Roscoe Lions Club 52 nd Annual Fall Festival starts today at 5 p.m. The Fall Festival takes place at Leland Park with bingo, amusement rides, music, vendors and so much more. The Lions Festival Parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Sunday and travels down Main Street beginning at Bridge Street and ending at Williams Drive. Please plan ahead for road closures. The above listed road will be under construction for seal coating work. Temporary closures should be expected during seal coating. The construction work will start on Thursday, August 4 th , 2022, and should be completed by Wednesday, August 10 th , 2022, weather permitting. Delays should be expected. Please plan an alternate route.
Bell School Road Culvert Replacements
Culvert Replacements will take place on Bell School Road just south and just north of the intersection with Rote Road. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 8, 2022. This work will require Bell School Road south and north of Rote Road to be closed to traffic in stages. The work is to be completed by Friday, August 26, 2022; however, the duration of the work and road closure is dependent on the weather. Motorists should use alternate routes

Ribfest 2022
Please join us for Ribfest this Saturday July 23rd from noon to 3:00 pm at Viking lanes in South Beloit. Sample and vote on ribs specially prepared by our five regional Fire Departments. $10 admission gets you ribs and sides. Hosted by the Rockton-Roscoe Rotary Club.
