Roscoe is served by the highly trained and well-equipped Harlem-Roscoe Fire Protection District, which includes ambulance and paramedic, rescue/extrication, hazardous material emergency, and water rescue services.

Harlem-Roscoe maintains a high degree of professional skills, and is a leader among volunteer fire departments in training and education. All firefighters complete over 50 hours of introductory fire fighting training and then complete the First Responders Course and Fire Fighter II. All fire personnel are CPR certified, and over 10% of their personnel are state licensed Emergency Rescue Technicians (ERTs). Harlem-Roscoe also has chaplains, fire investigators, fire prevention officers, a photographer and a public education officer.

Fire personnel take an active part in community activities and civic functions, and have received many community awards. They also give talks on fire prevention and medical care to schools, civic groups, scouts and churches.
