Location

Located in the rolling hills of northern Illinois, on the banks of the Rock River, five miles from the Illinois/Wisconsin state line, Roscoe offers a peaceful, rural setting with the convenience of a large city. There is easy access to two large metropolitan areas — Rockford, nine miles to the south and Beloit, five miles to the north.

The Roscoe area also offers convenient access to both Illinois and Wisconsin due to its proximity to several Interstate Highway systems, putting three major commercial and industrial centers within easy reach. Chicago and Milwaukee are approximately 90 minutes away, and Madison is a one hour drive.

Transportation

In addition to Roscoe’s excellent location relative to the Interstate and State Highway systems, Roscoe is served by the Greater Rockford Airport, which is a regional airport and a major UPS shipping hub, O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, and General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.

Shopping

Local shopping centers and a variety of other businesses provide area residents with facilities for most of their shopping needs. Roscoe businesses include a major supermarket, drug stores, hardware stores, banks, restaurants, antique shops, convenience stores, gift shops, insurance agencies, real estate companies and many other supporting businesses.

Regional shopping centers are within a few minutes drive in Machesney Park, Rockford and Beloit, Wisconsin.

Housing

Roscoe offers a wide variety of residential housing from mid-priced ranch homes located in newer, well-kept subdivisions, to larger ranch and two-story homes located on picturesque wooded lots. There has recently been several developments featuring apartment buildings, townhouses and condominiums.

The area also has many dramatically designed executive homes located on large wooded lots. For those who desire that small country estate, that place with a horse barn, the peace and tranquility of a truly rural home, the Roscoe area offers varied small tracts of land.

Recreation

The public parks in the Village and several forest preserves operated by the Winnebago County Forest Preserve District grant outdoor enthusiasts ample opportunity to enjoy nature during all four seasons. Miles of nature trails and recreational paths are conveniently located throughout the Roscoe area.

Recreational facilities for golf, horseback riding, tennis, fishing, boating, play, picnic, hiking, cross country skiing and snowmobiling are among the best in the area. Seasonal programs for youth soccer, baseball, football, wrestling and swimming are available. These programs are open to all talent levels from the recreational teams to a higher competitive club side program.

Rock Cut State Park is just minutes away and offers its visitors a variety of recreational opportunities among its 3,092 acres and two lakes. Pierce Lake offers a great retreat for fishing, boating, wind surfing and swimming. The Rock River winds through the Roscoe area and provides boating and fishing pleasure. Roscoe is centrally located among three beautiful and varied Winnebago County golf courses. Many outstanding public and private courses are also within a short driving distance.
